At Ruislip Gardens Primary School we provide a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all of our pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities.
We want to provide opportunities for our pupils to become physically literate and confident in a way which supports their health and fitness as they move towards making their own choices as young adults. We provide opportunities for children to compete in sport and other activities in order to build character and help to embed values such as team work, fairness and respect.
We have recently introduced the concept of Sports Ambassador at our school and have appointed 8 Ambassadors (2 for each of our houses) in Year 6. These pupils are in charge of running inter-house competitions, umpiring games and assisting with lunchtime clubs and activities, which include introducing a range of games at lunchtimes and supporting our school sports events.
We offer participation in both competitive and non-competitive activities in order that pupils can develop a confident attitude to physical activity and enhance their well-being. Our children take part in many competitions including inter-house, inter-school and borough level competitions and tournaments. Children in Year 4 have the opportunity to attend swimming lessons at Highgrove Swimming Pool. Alongside the timetabled P.E. lessons there is a wide range of extra-curricular sporting opportunities available which include football (including our QPR Football club which is run by an external provider), basketball, tennis, tag rugby, athletics, cricket, cross-country and rounders. Over the years we have won a variety of cups and trophies, some of which are on display in our Reception area.
