At Ruislip Gardens children will study English, Maths and Science and eight foundation subjects: Design and Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education, Religious Education and Computing. Children have the opportunity to learn Spanish in KS2.
A new National Curriculum was introduced in September 2014 and in many respects it is more demanding than its predecessor. Our staff have worked to create a Curriculum Map which outlines the focus that will be given to each subject according to year group. This is a working document that will be updated as the academic year unfolds.
Each year we hold Curriculum Afternoon/Evening presentations where a member of the Senior Leadership Team present an overview of the curriculum and a summary of the ethos which underpins teaching and learning at Ruislip Gardens. Teachers in each year group also shared some information about how the changes would be integrated into their planning and delivery of the curriculum.
During the Academic Year 2016-2017 pupils in KS1 will use learning resources from Phonics Play and Bug Club to support their phonics learning and will read books from the following schemes: Oxford Reading Tree, Big Cat Phonics and Bug Club.

Curriculum statements, outlining what is to be taught in each curriculum area, are sent to parents at the beginning of each term and are available via the links below. We see this as an important opportunity for you to support your child’s learning. You will also find information regarding Educational Visits in these documents.
Key Stage 1 Curriculum: Years 1 and 2
Key Stage 2 Curriculum: Years 3 to 6
This year we will be assessing children’s attainment in maths, reading and writing in all Years against a set of skills which are known as Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
There are sets of KPI’s for all year groups and at the end of the school year your child’s class teacher will analyse the attainment and progress made by your child against every KPI so that they can award them an overall Grade.
Please see the links below to view relevant KPIs for your child.
