Governors work with the Headteacher, staff and the Local Authority to help secure the best possible education for our children. They have responsibility for setting the budget and for overseeing the curriculum. The governing body constitutes people from various backgrounds within the Community who are volunteers and, once elected, serve for four years before re-election.
The whole Governing Body meets once per term, with each governor attending at least one sub-committee meeting. Sub-committees meet to discuss and resolve various issues. Currently we hold three sub-committee meetings;

Our Governors are linked to year groups and curriculum areas within the school. They make regular visits to their link areas and report back to the school on their visits. This helps them to understand the issues faced by the school more fully and to be more effective in their role as part of the Governing Body.
According to our Instrument of Government, the Governing Body of Ruislip Gardens Primary School should consist of:
6 x Parent Governors
1 x Local Authority Governor
1 x Staff Governor
1 x Headteacher
9 x Co-opted Governors
The total number of governors should be 18. The term of office for all governors is 4 years (with the exception of the Headteacher who is a governor by virtue of office – ex-officio).
